GREEN TOWERS

GREEN TOWERS

Connie says:

i am a new fan of Roger Dean.  i got into it when we had to a project on surrealism at school and my dad insisted that he had lots of record covers with surrealistt images on them.  after a while i let him show my and that was the first time i looked at his work.  it was a cover for Yes and dad told me to got on the internet and see what i could find.
so here i am looking at some of, what i feel, are the greatest surrealist works of art in the world.
i like this painting as it looks so real as if he had just gone out and taken a picture.  the backround images look illuminated against the deep blue sky.
i am a huge fan thanks to my dad.
Connie.  ;)

Doris Loud says:

I've loved your work and been a fan for over 20 years. If I could escape into your lanscapes (for real); what an adventure that would be.
Thank you Roger Dean.

Spyridon says:
I am a musician and progresive rock has been one of my most important influences. The covers of Roger on the Yes albums become ONE with the music of the band, taking me to all those other worlds that Roger, Yes, and many other people have been. Rogers'paintings has made our eyes see places that "exist" since the dawn of mankind, which we have only felt with our hearts. Thank you Mr Dean!!

zaphod says:
As with most of Dean's work, he seems to have a knack for painting the unreal with such realism that it often sends chills through me. These places only exist in the imagnation, but you want them to be real,to actually visit and experience the feelings these images present. Scenery so calm & mistical. Peaceful, yet eerie. The source lighting here is what grabs me by the spine. It seems to come from the depths of the surreal. Roger Dean has a very special talent to evoke the imagination in us.

Rob Robinson says:
I have been a fan of your work for many years. While all of your images evoke a feeling that each is a world unto itself, offering an enchantment such that one would truly like the chance visit such places which seem to exist on the edge of eternity, this image has achieved that magnetic effect even more so. What I believe creates this greater attraction to the emotions, as well as defines a deep sense of awe, lies in the source of light. It radiates from within, inviting the viewer to seek its source. Marvelous, inspiring, and another credit to a truly great artist. The gifts of your work truly warm the heart and often bring a tear to the eye. They sometimes evoke a sense of sadness as well that the “real” world around us does not offer such wonders. If you had not been here to create them for us, we would truly know less of things that are of hope and beauty that exist within. And so, we are thankful to you and for you.

Peter Persson says:
Green towers at night, what a wonderful work. Ideal for dreaming and drifting away into other worlds, thank Roger, for this.

Randy Norman says:
This painting has always made me a little sad that this place doesn't exist on earth. Maybe if I'm good enough, I'll get there someday. Thanks, Roger.

nick brannan says:
thankyou, from one artist to another, strong will and courage of conviction, to stay the course by doing what you do best... clocked your website at an awkward time as i,m slowly trying to make it myself... your site made me think i,m not all alone out here... and for now,if i am,. its for a damn good reason. THANKYOU ROGER.(for those times when we can forget just how incredible life is.

Curtis Whittier says:

I notice the beautiful stillness of the waters that seemed to be warmed by a friendly evening sky. It seems as if something is happily overjoyed by something nearby. Just below the foot of the peaks, something as powerful as love is helping out the heat. Peace!

Chris McCarvill says:
I have so many questions about Mr. Dean's work. What's causing the light to shine up on the formations? It's interesting to see a landscape design at night with all of the light apparently coming from the center. What formed the towers? They appear like stalagtites(mites?) Does that mean there are upside down versions of these somewhere above the frame of the art?
I enjoy Mr. Dean's imagination. I wonder how he sees it.

Michal Hrtko says:
Really beautiful. What a flavour of Yes albums, listening and staring at these pieces...
A dream.

Spencer Hendrickson says:
The brilliant colours that Roger uses in his paintings is exciting and the creative imagery evokes a curiosity into the strange world.  I almost feel like I'am missing out on something because I can't realistically go swimming in the pool of water in the foreground of the painting.  As an artist, it truly inspires me.....Thank you Roger for your art that was such an inspiration to me at a young age!!!!

Scott Willi says:
I think Roger's work is so much like the music of Yes.  It takes your mind and senses on a journey to places you've never been.  His colors and shapes have always put me in a very relaxed mood.

A friend of mine told me about Roger Dean (and about this site)and once I saw his Works I thought that it was time to take my pencils and start to draw once again. Now I'll be back at the university to become an art teacher.  Thanks Roger for the inspiration!
ps,  I love the "Green Towers",  What a great work!!!

Bill Hardy says:
Looking at this piece takes me back to ten years old, in the back of my father's Impala. The lights of the city were mysterious and magic - the space in my mind was as much about castles in the clouds as about the flourescent green light bathing the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. Space ships and great halls full of music and light and monorails and soaring bridges between hundred-story buildings were all real. Roger Dean's work exists in that space - one of the few remaining touchstones I have to that magic.

remario says:
the first time i saw roger dean's works was when i bought the first album of YES and i have to say it was fantastic, absolutely great. i feel that roger's pictures have the same "frequency "as the YES music.and thi makes this music more deeper.

No other band but YES paints such a musical portrait of heavanly tranquility mixed with the raw progressive inner strength and discipline required to make such an assention of conciousness. No other artist but Roger Dean has so consistently captured the message of the music so perfectly. He is a gifted person.

Patrick James Woodroffe says:

Well done Roger...
Your website inspires me, though I did find that some bits did not function at all, several images unable to be seen, e.g. Asia Pyramid ... works NOT!!! At least that's what I found, though indeed I have very small experience of accessing websites... All the best... Patrick James Woodroffe

Tat says:
Roger Dean, One of my favorite artists.  I treasure my Yes album covers.  I think of the kenetic shapes of a lava lamp, dramatic, colorful and surreal and above all, beautiful.  This is what I treasure about the beauty of Roger's work...awesome!!!  Oh yeah, his stuff with the dragons--EXCITING--and I love dragons!  Thanks for contributing to the beauty of the world!

linda says:
the first time i saw roger dean's pictures was when i saw the covers of the yes albums. i was amazed and fascinated. well i know a woman who also draws such things as roger/ slighly different/. i know that she gets information from her soul, i think roger does the same. the most wonderful thing is that we can get information about our paralell worlds, unversis from such people, actually everyone can do such things, only we must listen to our heart - soul. so - let your soul be your pilot, let your soul guide you, guide you your way.

Mikel Graves says:
As with all his work this peice evokes a feeling that there are worlds where you can hear colors and taste sounds. Very moving indeed!!

mazzoni enrico says:
